It is with great emotion that we announce the last day of operations for The Barrhead will be Saturday Oct 1, 2022
Just over a year ago we purchased this property for its uniqueness, its beauty, and we began to make it into a home for our family. We fell in love with Grey County and Markdale and wanted to put down new roots here. With an existing business running as The Barrhead Pub & Grill we decided to try and maintain that business as we saw a need in the community, even though our background and experience are as entrepreneurs, and not restaurateurs. Much has changed over the past year so with this and our own personal goals and passions in mind, it has led to this decision.
That said, with all the work we’ve put into the business over the past year and the many friends we’ve made along the way… we’ve learned so much, met so many people in this fabulous community and want to thank each of you for your support.
To our staff who supported us, thank you. You have become dear friends along the way. To the community and regulars who came and shared stories and enjoyed the Barrhead with us, thank you. It’s meeting all of you and becoming a part of your community that’s made us smile inside knowing we made the right move to bring our family to this area…and also made this decision very difficult.
We want you all to know, our dreams & goals for this beautiful place still remain true. We will continue to improve the property and make it more into our home over time, we will also work on opening a new business in this location that will be more aligned with our passions, vision and family life. We are proud to be part of Grey Highlands and the Markdale community.
We understand that there may be some people who will not be happy with our decision. We know that there are limited options for dining in the area. Please keep in mind, this area is growing and with it, so will the businesses and number of options for its residents. We encourage you to continue to support the local businesses who serve this community as we now know firsthand how hard they work and how passionate they are in serving you and enriching this community.
We are happy to answer any questions you may have about our decision to close, our plans for the future, or anything else you may wish. We hope you can support our decision despite any disappointment.
